¿Soy una verdadera amiga?

Publicado

Am I a true friend?

“There are those who look like friends but destroy each other; a true friend remains more loyal than a brother.”

Proverbs 18:24 NTV

There are friendships that have been for a lifetime but there are also friendships that with time and the direction our life is taking have been left behind, and sometimes it’s hard to let them go, but we know deep down that sometimes it’s necessary. And sometimes we have been that friend that is left behind.

As time goes by we no longer look for quantity of friends but quality, because we already understand the value of a person, loyalty and responsibility (of course sometimes there are exceptions of those who understand everything later than others).

There are friendships that steal your heart and you don’t want to lose them, and that is why it’s important to be that friend that you would like to have. There are also “toxic” friendships, those who do not respect your thoughts, feelings and loyalty, they cross all boundaries and are selfish because they seek first their own benefits rather than loving others. Those friendships that don’t add up and only take, these types of friendships are good to root them out. Examine your heart and see what kind of friend you are.

How can we be better friends? First of all, by valuing the person; valuing their time, their thoughts, their personality and feelings. Second: by being loyal to the person in respecting their privacy and caring for their heart. Third: being responsible in that our actions will not harm the other person in any way and not being a procurer friend. There are situations in which we can’t turn a blind eye, we have to help with a confrontation and advice because, if we really love or want our friends, we take care of them, and if they do their will, we will have a peace in our conscience and we can be there to comfort or encourage.

When we love someone, all we want is for them to be and do well, because they are already part of our heart. God will always send you special friends in every process of your life or strengthen the ones you already have. The best friend you will always have forever and ever is God, because he will always be there no matter what, as he has done so far, just remember.

Amarte es una máxima expresión de amor

Publicado

¿Cuántas veces has tenido miedo a cambiar?

Loving you is a maximum expression of love

What should move us to give our utmost is to honor, worship, and serve Christ

How many times have you been afraid to change? Whether it’s a change in habits, where you live, a relationship, physical traits, or life plans, change is scary; however, if we look around, we can see change everywhere.

Why does it scare us?

Although many times in society we hear that accepting ourselves as we are indicates a maximum expression of love, to be able to make the change, it is necessary to know yourself; it is fundamental to find your motivations, which guide you and drive you towards what you want to improve about yourself.

It is essential to know that changes should not be seen as problems but as opportunities for growth, without forgetting that everything we do is for the Lord Himself; in other words, what should move us to give the maximum in everything we do, even in the personal change, is to honor, worship and serve Jesus Christ.

Our good works should be done with diligence, effort, dedication, and passion as if we were doing them for Christ and only to please him, not the people around us.

Love is reflected in many circumstances, but when discussing changing for self-love, we must never forget that pleasing God is the most important thing.

Proverbios 4:18

Mensaje a mujeres visionarias

Love who you are called to be!

Evelyn Corral tells us about her life and her fabulous project, Field Operations Boys & Girls Clubs of El Paso

Evelyn Corral is the current director of Field Operations Boys & Girls Clubs of El Paso, which she founded after her time in the classrooms of El Paso as a bilingual teacher.

An example to follow

“My dad is a dreamer and always has been; he would sit on the El Chamizal bridge and look towards El Paso with bright eyes and say, ‘One day I will be there,’ then with 60 dollars and a pregnant girlfriend (my mother), they headed to Los Angeles, California”, recalls Corral, who adds that his resilience was evident.

She admired her grandmothers and parents, their determination, and their sacrifices. “This foundation built my character, and I knew I had the task of making my life worthwhile, making a difference, (but) I just didn’t know what that would look like,” she says.

Education

Evelyn Corral tells Visionarias that her parents decided to move to El Paso when she was two weeks away from finishing fourth grade. “When I arrived, the teacher asked me to introduce myself to the class and explain in English why we had moved, and I couldn’t do it; I felt embarrassed, and the rest of the class laughed, so I was afraid to enter the fifth degree.”

“My fifth-grade teacher, Miss Keating, marked a before and after in my school life. She validated, believed in me, and showed a genuine interest in creating a safe classroom environment. After fifth grade, I advanced to more advanced classes in middle school, graduated in the top ten of my high school class, and earned my bachelor’s degree in Multidisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Music, Communications, and Humanities from the University of Texas at El Paso ( UTEP)”, she mentions. Our interviewee also became certified as a teacher in bilingual education in Texas and completed her master’s degree in curriculum and instruction at Concordia University in Portland, Oregon.

Beginnings

“My first job as a teacher was teaching in a fourth-grade bilingual classroom, the same grade I was in when I arrived in El Paso. At that moment, I knew I was teaching kids in the same situation I was in, and they had a special place in my heart,” she says.

She adds that after four years, she went on to teach educators about reading practices and active learning in grades kindergarten through fifth. Later, she was hired as an Educational Technology Specialist, a position in which she provided district-level professional development for K-12 teachers, administrators, and counselors. Then, she felt the call, “I took a leap of faith and ventured into what I do now, director of Field Operations Boys & Girls Clubs of El Paso.”

Your mission

Field Operations Boys & Girls Clubs of El Paso tells us that their mission is to empower all young people, especially those who need it most, to reach their full potential as productive, loving, and responsible citizens. “Every day, we see our children’s difficulties, and we do our best to close those gaps.”

“We seek to close the educational poverty gap and provide opportunities that will change the future of many children in our city,” she says.

They currently serve five school districts and have 13 club locations, all free to the families they serve.

“We want to be like the morning sun, shining brighter and brighter until full daylight.”

Proverbs 4:18

Message to visionary women

To all our readers, Evelyn says, “Love who you are called to be! Some things you see as imperfections may be what others need. Some of the most wonderful people are those who don’t fit in. Be disciplined, and remember to have boundaries! Not everyone needs to know everything about you. See rejection as a reorientation. The world needs more stories, dreamers, agents of change, and people who take action. Be brave and act!”

¿Has tenido una amistad especial?

Publicado

Have you had a special special friendship?

People chosen in the right way can become family to us

Friendship is one of the most important values we have because, as human beings, we are social by nature, and we constantly need to surround ourselves with people of great value to us.

The exciting thing about friendship is achieving an affective bond, which grows over time.

Regarding interpersonal relationships, friendship is a bond in which it is easy to establish rules without needing someone else to impose them since everything is the decision of those who participate.

Friendship comes from the Latin word amicus, which translates as “friend,” this term comes from amare, which means “to love.” That is why, when we surround ourselves with people, we must be true to ourselves to find loyalty, trust, respect, sincerity, happiness, and support, among other things.

Nowadays, we can observe and hear that true friendships have ceased to be forged; even some people no longer believe in such close relationships, but I firmly believe that if we take the right path, where we understand that having a friendship means to love and love sincerely and selflessly and express a reciprocal affection, it will be nurtured over time, treatment and experiences.

I invite you to enjoy memorable, happy, or funny moments with people of value to you, those we consider “family by choice,” real people with a lasting relationship.
