Dependencia emocional en la familia

Publicado

Emotional dependence in the family

Let’s imagine this scene: Mary, the mother of Jesus, crying at the foot of the cross, yelling at him, why don’t you get down from there? Don’t you think about the pain I’m going through? Don’t you mind leaving us alone?

Of course that was not how it happened. Even in the midst of pain, Mary always knew who Jesus was, that he came with a clear purpose and that she was only an instrument used by God. However, this is the story that many families live, where there are husbands, parents and children who are emotionally dependent on others.

All dependency, as its name indicates, sooner or later leads to a suffocating situation in which there is a lack of inner freedom.

Emotional codependency symptoms

• Low self-esteem
• Sudden mood swings
• Fear of change
• Excessive idealization of another person
• Low tolerance towards frustration
• A poor self-concept accompanied by an inability to set limits and say no.

In the couple relationship, we reflect this by constantly living offended by what my spouse does, by not satisfying my emotional needs, so we must be clear that we are companions on the road, we team up to fulfill a purpose to which God has called us; We must not lose our individuality or allow our spouse to define who I am, it’s important to be clear that each one has an identity in Christ Jesus.

In upbringing there are parents who idealize their children, making them believe that they are there to fulfill all their expectations and desires, but it is not like that, children are a gift from God and he grants us the honor of giving them the instruction, the foundations , emotional stability and the security they need to fulfill his purpose for them.

If we don’t assimilate this, when they begin to undertake their independent life, they will do so with a high degree of guilt for feeling that they don’t fulfill their parents’ expectations, triggering feelings of frustration.

I invite you to give each of the members of your family the value they deserve, promoting a healthy environment, where each one feels respected and valued for who they are, feeling complete and satisfied for who we are in Christ.

May God, who gives that patience and that encouragement, help you to live in full harmony with one another, as befits the followers of Jesus Christ. Then all of you will be able to join together in one voice to give praise and glory to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

My family is unique

…and each one is the protagonist of a story worthy of applause

I heard someone say a long time ago: “Don’t compare yourself to anyone because maybe you will end up feeling more or less than that person.” I think the same applies to the family in that each is unique and unrepeatable.

Let’s think for a moment about the individualities with which a man and a woman come to form a family: culture, education, value system, and upbringing, among others; everything merges, and how Genesis 2:24 says: “Therefore the man leaves his father and mother, and unites himself with his wife, and the two merge into a single being,” to give birth to a new family, unique, that is, one that does not have and should not allow comparison.

My family is unique because that is what its members are like, and each is the protagonist of a great story worthy of applause.

The laughter, the anecdotes, the triumphs, the failures, the conversations, the silences, and the secrets that are integrated within the walls of the family are precisely what makes each family unique.

Unique does not mean ideal; not everything is always perfect, but even how conflicts are resolved is part of that uniqueness that gives color to your family.

Genesis 37 2 illustrates the picture of a unique family: “This is the story of the family of Jacob.” The story we find here shows us the victories and failures of a family chosen by God, which, despite its imperfections, manages to contemplate the provision and mercy of the Lord.

At the end of the story, Joseph could forgive his brother’s betrayal, understanding that it was all part of God’s purpose to preserve his family and fulfill his will.

So, what is your family history? Are there dark chapters? Do they have complex characters? Don’t worry; remember that God chooses you along with them, and your entire family history is a painting where he is the painter, and no detail is not under his control.

3. Santificarás las fiestas
4. Honrarás a tu padre y a tu madre
5. No matarás
6. No cometerás actos impuros
7. No robarás
8. No dirás falsos testimonios ni mentirás
9. No consentirás pensamientos o deseos impuros

Romanos 12:16-18

Rules of coexistence

They seek to promote good treatment and harmonious living within society.

The rules of coexistence are guidelines for social behavior established by a group of people or a community. These rules are based on the respect that should exist between individuals; they seek to promote good treatment and a harmonious life within society.

Thus, the rules of coexistence are supported by respect for others and their rights, honesty, equality, tolerance, solidarity, responsibility, companionship, a sense of duty, and teamwork.

Understanding the values shared in a space or institution and acting following them favors living in a constructive and organized space where a code of conduct and principles that allow the smooth flow of daily life are shared. Likewise, these agreed-upon rules help to prevent some conflicts and, when they arise, allow for a better solution.

It is essential to mention that the rules of coexistence vary according to cultural contexts, the type of relationships established among the group members, and the physical space in which they are manifested.

However, it should be clear that although the rules of coexistence vary according to the context, there should always be coherence between them and the actions carried out in a given situation since they are based on the same principles and values. For example, there are different rules of coexistence, always keeping coherence, in a family space than in a pedagogical, work, virtual, public, or professional one.

As we know, man is a social being by nature, and to balance his physical integrity and mental health, he requires different socialization spaces that allow him to develop in different areas. Therefore, “The importance of coexistence lies in the individual recognition as a social being to know and accept other people with their differences or characteristics.”

We can see that in the Bible, we have ten rules of coexistence, and these are the commandments:

1. Thou shalt love God above all things. 2.
2. Thou shalt not pronounce the name of God in vain.
3. Thou shalt sanctify the feasts
4. Honor your father and mother.
5. Thou shalt not kill
6. Thou shalt not commit impure acts
7. Thou shalt not steal
8. Thou shalt not bear false witness or lie.
9. Thou shalt not indulge in impure thoughts or desires
10. Thou shalt not covet the goods of others

“Be of one mind among yourselves; not haughty, but associate not with the lowly. Be not wise in your conceit. Repay no one evil for evil; seek what is good in the sight of all men.”
