Una historia verdadera que muestra cómo Dios puede convertir las tragedias en triunfos increíbles
Editorial Mundo Hispano presenta el libro de Vaneetha Rendall Risner, “Cuando pases por el fuego”, una obra literaria que brinda detalles de una vida llena de inconvenientes y dificultades humanamente increíbles, que sólo se superan de la mano de Dios.
La autora cuenta que al nacer tuvo poliomyelitis y en la edad procreativa tuvo varios abortos espontáneos, hasta le propusieron un aborto programado, ¿cómo se sobrevive a todo esto?
Vaneetha Rendall Risner da a conocer su impactante testimonio, lleno de situaciones donde humanamente se podría decir que no hay salida, pero el poder del mensaje de Jesús actuando en su vida, transformando el dolor, la tristeza y la desesperanza hace de este libro un canto a la vida. La experiencia de haber pasado por varios abortos hizo de su vida un sufrimiento continuo: “ya había sufrido tres abortos espontáneos y tenía once semanas de embarazo, y me preguntaba si nuestro bebé llegaría a término”.
Mientras avanzaba su embarazo de riesgo, de Pablo quien tenía un diagnóstico de un corazón con sólo la mitad en formación, que le generaría problemas cardíacos durante su gestación y posterior sobrevivencia –sólo podría vivir dos semanas aproximadamente aunque habían opciones para explorar–, ella continuaba luchando internamente con Dios y cuestionando cómo era posible que sucedieran situaciones tan difíciles de entender si Dios tiene todo bajo control y él no comente errores.
“En estos meses posteriores, me cuestionaba sobre ese versículo de Romanos 28:8. Acerca de la idea de que Dios no comete errores y acerca de si Dios podía o quería cambiar las cosas. Solo le había suplicado a Dios que salvara a Pablo. ¿Lo haría?”, contó.
El diagnóstico seguía siendo difícil
La doctora que la atendía sugirió un aborto programado. “El terminar con su embarazo sería más fácil para usted y para su bebé”, sentenció la especialista.
La respuesta de Vaneetha fue contundente: “La vida humana es preciosa para mí y nunca querría matar a un bebé que todavía no nace.
La gente diría que yo he tenido una vida muy difícil porque tuve polio de niña, pero a mí me gusta mi vida y creo que ha valido la pena. Sé que existen riesgos enormes y que no hay garantías con esta condición, sin embargo, queremos hacer todo lo que esté a nuestro alcance por nuestro hijo”.
Cuando el libro llegó a manos de Joni Eareckson Tada, reconocida por su labor en favor de las personas discapacitadas sufriendo ella misma cuadriplejia, dijo: “Aquí tenemos una historia verdadera que muestra cómo Dios puede convertir las tragedias en triunfos increíbles de fe y de resiliencia. The author says that at birth, she had poliomyelitis, and in her childbearing years, she had several miscarriages; she even proposed a programmed abortion; how does one survive all this?
Vaneetha Rendall Risner gives her shocking testimony, full of situations where humanly, one could say there is no way out. Still, the power of the message of Jesus acting in her life, transforming the pain, sadness and hopelessness, makes this book a hymn to life. The experience of having gone through several miscarriages caused her life continuous suffering: “I had already suffered three miscarriages and was eleven weeks pregnant, and I wondered if our baby would make it to the term.”
As her at-risk pregnancy progressed, Pablo, who had a diagnosis of a heart with only half in formation, which would generate cardiac problems during his gestation and later survival -he could only live approximately two weeks although there were options to explore-, she continued to struggle internally with God and questioning how it was possible that such difficult situations to understand could happen if God has everything under control and He does not make mistakes.
“In these later months, I questioned myself about that verse in Romans 28:8. The idea that God doesn’t make mistakes and about whether God could or would change things. I had just begged God to save Paul. Would He do it?” she recounted.
The diagnosis was still tricky
The attending physician suggested a scheduled abortion. “Terminating your pregnancy would be easier for you and your baby,” she said.
Vaneetha’s response was blunt: “Human life is precious to me, and I would never want to kill an unborn baby.
People would say that I have had a tough life because I had polio as a child, but I like my life, and I think it has been worth it. I know there are huge risks and no guarantees with this condition; however, we want to do everything in our power for our child.”
