La política, sus nietos y el amor de Dios, son el motor de la funcionaria que trabaja en beneficio de la comunidad juarense
Abogada, funcionaria pública, política, madre, abuela y una mujer de servicio son sólo algunas de las caras de Marisela Saenz Moriel, una juarense dedicada al beneficio de la comunidad fronteriza, a la que sirve con el corazón.
En esta edición de Visionarias, Marisela se sincera sobre su labor social y su papel de mujer de familia, el cual es dirigido por sus tres nietos, Julia, Leonardo y Milán.
‘Ese día conocí a Dios’
La vida dentro de la iglesia cristiana comenzó para la exdiputada local cuando apenas tenía 17 años y trabajaba en una maquiladora, donde además de conocer al padre de sus hijos tuvo su primer encuentro con Dios.
Fue en esa etapa, según nos cuenta, que dejó la vida del mundo común y por primera vez acudió a una iglesia gracias a la invitación del hombre que luego se convertiría en su esposo.
“Él era muy serio, muy formal y tenía respeto por todos”, lo que llamó la atención de la joven mujer, quien emocionada recuerda lo que esa visita al templo le significó.
“Yo creía que lo conocía (a Dios), pero no es cierto, yo nunca había entrado a una iglesia cristiana, pero ese día que yo entré escuché la música y cambió mi vida… eso tocó mi corazón”.
Lo mismo ocurrió con La Biblia, que, aunque sabía que existía, desconocía por su contenido, por lo no entendía lo que decía el pastor, sin embargo, fue gracias a esto que comenzó a ir a la iglesia, incluso a la escuela dominical.
Fiel hasta con la iglesia
Marisela Saenz tiene asistiendo 26 años a la misma iglesia, la misma a la que fue por primera vez y en la que escuchó atenta la palabra del pastor Ambrosio Almaguer. Fue de esta iglesia de la que no se fue nunca por la sencilla razón de que aquí tuvo ese encuentro personal con el Señor.
Tras el fallecimiento de Ambrosio, Marisela ha continuado yendo, ahora a escuchar la palabra a través de David Almaguer, hijo del primer pastor, y por quien descubrió que “la fidelidad de un cristiano empieza desde su casa”, y su casa es la iglesia, asegura.
El servicio y la política
Durante su matrimonio y ya con hijos, terminó la carrera de abogada y siguiendo el ejemplo de sus padres, Saenz Moriel comenzó con su labor social, tanto de manera independiente como ocupando importantes puestos dentro de administraciones municipales.
Ha sido regidora y diputada local, lo que le ha permitido proponer iniciativas y programas en beneficio de los más vulnerables.
“Me gusta mucho la labor social y me gusta mucho ayudar a mi prójimo, esa es mi característica principal, siempre estoy preocupada por quienes me rodean y siempre estoy haciendo muchas obras en beneficio y a favor de mi ciudad”.
Ella sabe que es desde la política que puede impactar más y mejor.
Su legado
Pero para la abogada (quien acaba de recibir un doctorado honoris causa por su participación como vicepresidenta nacional de la Alianza Mexicana de Abogados) los desvelos y el esfuerzo ha valido la pena, sobre todo al reconocer que es un ejemplo para el resto de su familia.
“El legado que voy a dejar a mis nietos es el de servicio, voy a sembrarles el amor por el prójimo y que también tengan una vida espiritual, que conozcan a Dios. Mi prioridad es que ellos lo conozcan y que siempre lo tengan como herencia”.
Por lo anterior es que cada semana ella se encarga de que sus nietos, no falten a la iglesia dominical, donde aprenden al igual que ella, lo que es la responsabilidad y la disciplina, características que sin duda le han ayudado para conseguir los trabajos en los que se pueda ayudar.
Y aunque la responsabilidad de guiar a la familia por el buen camino es mucha, esto no quita que después de las lecciones, Marisela ejerza su papel de abuela como ninguna otra, pues por Julia, de año y medio; Leonardo, de 6 años y Milán, de 7, es capaz de hasta ponerse una máscara y luchar con ellos sin límite de tiempo.

A woman born to serve
Politics, her grandchildren and the love of God are the driving force behind the official who works for the benefit of the Juarense community
Lawyer, public official, politician, mother, grandmother and a woman of service are just some of the faces of Marisela Saenz Moriel, a juarense dedicated to the benefit of the border community, which she serves with her heart.
In this edition of Visionarias, Marisela opens up about her social work and role as a family woman, led by her three grandchildren, Julia, Leonardo and Milán.
‘That day I met God’
Life within the Christian church began for the former local congresswoman when she was just 17 years old and working in a maquiladora, where in addition to meeting the father of her children, she had her first encounter with God.
At that stage, as she tells us, she left the ordinary world and, for the first time, attended a church thanks to the invitation of the man who would later become her husband.
“He was very serious, very formal and had respect for everyone,” which caught the young woman’s attention, who excitedly recalls what that visit to the temple meant to her.
“I thought I knew him (God), but it’s not true; I had never entered a Christian church, but that day I heard the music, and it changed my life… it touched my heart.”
The same happened with the Bible, which, although she knew it existed, she did not know its contents, so she did not understand what the pastor was saying; however, it was thanks to this that she began to go to church, even to Sunday school.
Faithful even with the church
Marisela Saenz has been attending the same church for 26 years, the same church she heard for the first time and where she listened attentively to the words of Pastor Ambrosio Almaguer. It was from this church that she never left for the simple reason that here she had that personal encounter with the Lord.
After Ambrosio’s death, Marisela has continued to go, now to listen to the word through David Almaguer, son of the first pastor, and through whom she discovered that “the faithfulness of a Christian begins at home,” and her home is the church, she assures.
Service and politics
During her marriage and already with children, she finished her law degree and following the example of her parents, Saenz Moriel began her social work independently and occupied important positions within municipal administrations.
She has been a councilwoman and local congresswoman, which has allowed her to propose initiatives and programs for the benefit of the most vulnerable.
“I like social work, and I like to help my fellow man; that is my main characteristic, I am always concerned about those around me, and I am always doing many works for the benefit and in favor of my city.”
She knows that it is from politics that she can make a more significant and better impact.
Her legacy
But for the lawyer (who has just received an honorary doctorate for her participation as national vice-president of the Mexican Alliance of Lawyers), the efforts have been worth it, especially when she recognizes that she is an example for the rest of her family.
“The legacy that I will leave to my grandchildren is that of service; I will sow in them the love for the neighbor and that they also have a spiritual life, that they know God. My priority is that they know him and always have him as their inheritance”.
For this reason, every week, she ensures that her grandchildren do not miss Sunday church, where they learn, just like her, what responsibility and discipline are, which have undoubtedly helped her get the jobs she can help with.
And although the responsibility of guiding the family on the right path is a lot, this does not mean that after the lessons, Marisela exercises her role as a grandmother like no other because for Julia, a year and a half old; Leonardo, six years old and Milán, seven years old, she is even capable of putting on a mask and fight with them without time limit.
