Cuando las personas se ponen de acuerdo y se unen para trabajar a favor de una causa en común, estamos viendo la solidaridad en acción. Esta colaboración entre los individuos ha servido a través de la historia para que la humanidad haga frente a los más terribles desastres naturales, guerras, enfermedades y un sinfín de situaciones difíciles a nivel social, familiar y personal.
La solidaridad también hace posible que trabajemos en conjunto para alcanzar objetivos comunes, logrando mucho más de lo que cualquier individuo puede lograr con su esfuerzo personal, lo podemos visualizar como esa gota de agua que se une a otra y después a otra más, hasta que se va formando un río y logran alcanzar el mar.
De hecho, la solidaridad era el centro de las comunidades que los primeros cristianos crearon, existía apoyo, compañerismo y ayuda mutua. Su intención era poner en práctica las enseñanzas de Jesús para que el mundo entero le conociera.
“Ruego también por los que han de creer en mí por el mensaje de ellos, para que todos sean uno. Padre, así como tú estás en mí y yo en ti, permite que ellos también estén en nosotros, para que el mundo crea que tú me has enviado… Permite que alcancen la perfección en la unidad, y así el mundo reconozca que tú me enviaste y que los has amado a ellos tal como me has amado a mí”

Nuestro mundo enfrenta muchos problemas y situaciones terribles que no podemos ignorar, no debemos simplemente encogernos de hombros y pensar que no hay nada por hacer porque los tiempos son malos, debemos ser solidarios con los que sufren. Seguramente hay alguna causa social que te mueve el corazón para ayudar más que otras, ten la seguridad de que Dios ha puesto ahí ese sentimiento y ganas de apoyar. De la misma manera, todas las habilidades, conocimiento y recursos que Dios te ha permitido adquirir son para ser solidaria con esa causa. ¡Imagina todo lo que se puede lograr en nuestra ciudad si cada creyente apoyara de alguna manera en esa situación por la que siente una carga en su corazón! Esa es la verdadera transformación que estamos llamados a hacer como iglesia para que el mundo conozca del amor de Dios.

We see solidarity in action when people agree and come together to work for a common cause. This collaboration between individuals has served throughout history to help humanity face the most terrible natural disasters, wars, diseases, and myriad complicated social, family and personal situations.
Solidarity also makes it possible for us to work together to achieve common goals, performing much more than any individual can achieve with their effort; we can visualize it as that drop of water that joins another and then another until a river is formed and reach the sea.
Solidarity was the center of the communities that the first Christians created; there was support, companionship and mutual help. They intended to put Jesus’ teachings into practice so the whole world would know him.
“I also pray for those who are to believe in me through their message, that they may all be one. Father, as you are in me and I am in you, let them also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. Let them attain perfection in unity so that the world may know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.”
John 17:20-23 (NIV)
Our world faces many problems and terrible situations that we cannot ignore; we must not simply shrug our shoulders and think that there is nothing to do because times are wrong; we must be in solidarity with those who suffer. Indeed, some social cause moves your heart to help more than others; rest assured that God has put that feeling and desire to support there. In the same way, all the skills, knowledge and resources that God has allowed you to acquire are to be in solidarity with that cause. Imagine all that can be achieved in our city if every believer support in some way for which he feels a burden in his heart! That is the true transformation we are called to make as a church so that the world will know of God’s love.
