La época de Navidad, para mí en lo particular, es un tiempo muy hermoso y especial en el año, debido al significado tan grande que tiene. La simple palabra, al escucharla nos produce alegría, aunque para algunos sea nostalgia.
Por ello, si yo hiciera una recopilación de respuestas dadas, por cada una de ustedes, respecto a la pregunta “¿Qué es la navidad para usted?”, creo que tendría una gran variedad de respuestas, entre las cuales se podrían destacar… es época de amor, tiempo de dar, momento familiar, adornos llamativos en casa, regalos, comida, luces, descanso, viajes, festejos, juguetes, aguinaldos o un árbol preciosamente adornado, mientras que para otras puede ser tiempo de reflexión, momentos de felicidad, o bien, un momento lleno de bellos recuerdos.
Por lo anterior es que me di a la tarea de buscar el significado de tan importante palabra, “Navidad”.
Su origen etimológico proviene de la palabra natividad, que significa nacimiento, y ¿el nacimiento de quién celebramos?, pues el nacimiento de aquel que ha impactado a través de los siglos, el que ha transformado corazones, cambiado el rumbo del mundo y que ha hecho que muchas vidas encuentren la verdadera razón de vivir, me refiero al rey de reyes y señor de señores: Jesucristo.
Mucho antes de que él naciera, el profeta Isaías escribió acerca del mesías que habría de venir, en Isaías 9:6 nos comparte “Porque un niño nos es nacido, hijo nos es dado, y el principado sobre su hombro, y será llamado su nombre, admirable, consejero, Dios fuerte, Padre eterno, príncipe de paz”.
Él es la verdadera Navidad, es el mismo Dios fuerte, Padre eterno, naciendo en los corazones de todo aquel que le acepta como el salvador y Señor de su vida. Esto es la Navidad, esto es lo que celebramos en el mes de diciembre, Jesucristo dejando su trono de gloria, para nacer en este mundo, con el más hermoso propósito de entregar su vida, para que todo aquel que en él cree no se pierda más y tenga vida Eterna.
Cuando este 24 de diciembre estemos sentadas a la mesa con nuestra familia para saborear una deliciosa cena, no olvidemos tomar un tiempo para recordar el verdadero motivo de la Navidad, que al fin de cuentas es Jesucristo naciendo en cada corazón.

For me, Christmas time is a beautiful and unique time of the year due to its significant meaning. When we hear it, the simple word makes us happy, even if for some it is nostalgia.
If I were to make a compilation of the answers given to the question “What is Christmas for you?”, I believe I would have a great variety of responses, among which we could highlight: it is a time of love, a time of giving, a family moment, flashy decorations at home, gifts, food, lights, rest, trips, celebrations, toys, Christmas gifts or a beautifully decorated tree. However, for others, it can be a time of reflection, moments of happiness, or a moment full of beautiful memories.
That is why I decided to look for the meaning of such an important word, “Christmas.”
Its etymological origin comes from the word nativity, which means birth. And whose birth are we celebrating? The birth of the one who has impacted throughout the centuries, the one who has transformed hearts, changed the course of the world, and made many lives find the valid reason to live; I am referring to the king of kings and lord lords: Jesus Christ.
Long before he was born, the prophet Isaiah wrote about the Messiah to come. In Isaiah 9:6, he shares with us, “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
He is the true Christmas; he is the same strong God, eternal Father, born in the hearts of everyone who accepts him as the savior and Lord of his life. That is Christmas; this is what we celebrate in December; Jesus Christ left his throne of glory, to be born in this world, with the most beautiful purpose of giving his life, so that everyone who believes in him will no longer be lost and will have Eternal life.
When this December 24, we are sitting at the table with our family to savor a delicious dinner, let us not forget to take time to remember the valid reason for Christmas, which, after all, is Jesus Christ being born in every heart.
