Sandra L. Hansen, pastora de Río Poderoso, lidera grupos de ayuda al prójimo en El Paso
“Mi corazón siempre ha sido servir a Dios”, asegura sin titubear Sandra L. Hansen, una mujer visionaria que tras casarse con un pastor comenzó a involucrarse de manera más profunda en las necesidades de la comunidad.
Sandra cuenta que tras su matrimonio sintió que debía ser parte de lo que su esposo Hugo estaba haciendo en la iglesia, y fue cuando comenzó a identificar las problemáticas que existían a su alrededor.
“El Señor me dijo que yo me iba a casar con un pastor… me caso con el pastor y veo la necesidad en la iglesia local, y Dios nos ha enseñado a cubrir esa necesidad, él quiere que seamos parte de la solución”, asegura la pastora de Río Poderoso, templo ubicado en El Paso, Texas, y en el que pastorea en pareja desde el 2012.
Fue aquí donde descubrió la necesidad que tenían algunos de escuchar la palabra del Señor, así como la falta de alimento, ropa y otras provisiones que tiene un gran número de integrantes de esta comunidad, por lo que se dio a la tarea de llevar recursos a los desprotegidos.
Es parte de la solución
Desde su llamado por parte del Señor, Sandra se ha encargado de dirigir brigadas que llevan despensas hasta los hogares de los necesitados. Además, en fechas clave como el Día de Acción de Gracias, reparten cena caliente a personas sin hogar, y lo más importante, comparten una oración, algo que también han hecho en albergues de mujeres, donde proporcionan ropa y otros artículos.
“A mí me llena de alegría cuando puedo dar una palabra de esperanza a alguien, cuando puedo animarle, decirle que hay sanidad, que hay un camino de prosperidad, no de calamidad. Cuando hago eso llego a la plenitud, porque estoy haciendo la voluntad de Dios”, asegura.
Ella, su esposo y voluntarios, ofrecen además entretenimiento sano como el Festival de la Familia, en el que además de comida, llevan música en vivo y actividades para los niños. Sandra también ha estado al frente de grupos de mujeres y ha sido directora del ministerio de niños, así como de los grupos de intercesión.
Somos vulnerables
Debido a las diferentes historias que le ha tocado conocer, la madre de dos hijos nos recuerda que siempre es importante estar cerca de Dios, sobre todo en estos momentos en que el mundo atraviesa por una situación superior. “Tener a Dios cerca es lo más importante, nos hemos enfrentado a la realidad, somos vulnerables, el ser humano no sabe todo, no tenemos todas las respuestas, pero hay alguien que sí, alguien que tiene todo el poder para protegernos”, dice.
Asegura que su anhelo más importante es que la gente se refugie en las cosas correctas y que busque el camino de Jesús, el cual ella ya ha experimentado.
Es así que Sandra manda un mensaje claro a la comunidad, “Dios te ama, quiere cuidarte, quiere proveerte todas tus necesidades, ayudarte en tu ansiedad, en tus luchas, él quiere sanarte. Solamente quiere que le abras tu corazón, que le des la oportunidad y que dejes que él tome su lugar en tu vida, porque él quiere bendecirte, está contigo no contra ti. No importa que hayas hecho, que haya pasado en tu vida, él quiere estar cerca de ti, acércate a él”, finaliza.

Sandra L. Hansen, pastor of Río Poderoso, leads neighbor help groups in El Paso
“My heart has always been serving God”, says Sandra L. Hansen without hesitation, a visionary woman who, after marrying a pastor, began to become more deeply involved in the community needs.
Sandra says that after her marriage she felt that she should be part of what her husband Hugo was doing in the church, and it was when she began to identify the problems that existed around her.
“The Lord told me that I was going to marry a pastor … I marry the pastor and I see the need in the local church, and God has taught us to cover that need, he wants us to be part of the solution”, says the pastor of Río Poderoso, a temple located in El Paso, Texas, and where she has pastored in couple since 2012.
It was here that she discovered the need that some had to hear the Lord’s Word, as well as the lack of food, clothing and other provisions that a large number of members of this community have, for which she took on the task of bringing resources to the unprotected.
It’s part of the solution
Since her call from the Lord, Sandra has been in charge of leading brigades that bring pantries to homes of those in need. In addition, on dates like Thanksgiving, they give hot dinner to homeless people, and most importantly, they share a prayer, something they have also done in women’s shelters, where they provide clothes and other items.
“It fills me with joy when I can give someone a word of hope, when I can encourage them, tell them that there is healing, that there is a path of prosperity, not calamity. When I do that, I reach fulfillment, because I am doing God’s will”, she says.
She, her husband and volunteers also offer healthy entertainment such as the Family Festival, in which in addition to food, they carry live music and activities for children.
Sandra has also been at the forefront of women’s groups and has been the children’s ministry director as well as advocacy groups.
We are vulnerable
Due to the different stories she has had to learn, this mother of two reminds us that it’s always important to be close to God, especially in these moments when the world is going through a superior situation. “Having God close is the most important thing, we have faced reality, we are vulnerable, the human being doesn’t know everything, we don’t have all the answers, but there is someone who does, someone who has all the power to protect us”, she says.
She says that her most important desire is that people take refuge in the right things and that they look for the Jesus way, which they have already experienced.
Thus, Sandra sends a clear message to the community, “God loves you, he wants to take care of you, he wants to provide all your needs, help you in your anxiety, in your struggles, he wants to heal you. He only wants you to open your heart to him, to give him the opportunity and to let him take his place in your life, because he wants to bless you, he is with you, not against you. No matter what you have done, what has happened in your life, he wants to be close to you, come closer to him ”, she ends.
