“Enseñar a cuidar el medio ambiente, es enseñar a valorar la vida”
Casi nunca se habla de la importancia de cuidar lo que Dios creó para todos nosotros; eso nos incluye a ti y a mí, querida lectora. ¿Cuántas veces nos hemos detenido a pensar en cómo piensa el Señor acerca del cuidado que le damos a nuestro medio ambiente?
Nos fue dada una única y especial responsabilidad: “fructificad y multiplicaos; llenad la tierra, y sojuzgadla, y señoread en los peces del mar, en las aves de los cielos, y en todas las bestias que se mueven sobre la tierra”.
Adán fue puesto en el Edén “para labrarlo y guardarlo”. Algunas personas asumen que “sojuzgar” y “tener dominio” implica que la tierra fue creada solamente para uso y explotación del hombre, pero esto no concuerda con lo que Dios tenía pensado.
Destruir y descuidar la naturaleza, contaminando el agua y el aire, sobreexplotando el suelo y el hábitat de los animales, o los recursos como sea que nos plazca no va con el carácter de Dios o el dominio que él mandó a la humanidad. No refleja su cuidado y tampoco refleja el propósito original para nosotros: labrar y guardar la creación.
Por medio del cuidado que le demos al medio ambiente es una forma de agradecer al creador por permitirnos vivir en un lugar tan bello, pues él creó demasiadas cosas lindas, las cuáles debemos cuidar y proteger, para que las siguientes generaciones puedan apreciar las maravillas que creó, tal vez sean tus hijos, nietos, sobrinos, hermanos o conocidos.
Stewardship of creation
“Teaching to care for the environment is teaching to value life”.
The importance of caring for what God created for all of us is rarely talked about; that includes you and me, dear reader. How many times have we stopped to think about how the Lord thinks about the care we give to our environment?
We were given a unique and special responsibility: “Be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth”.
Adam was placed in Eden “to till it and keep it”. Some people assume that “subdue” and “have dominion” imply that the earth was created solely for man’s use and exploitation, but this does not agree with what God intended.
Destroying and neglecting nature, polluting the water and air, overexploiting the soil and animal habitat, or resources however we please does not go with God’s character or the dominion he commanded mankind. It does not reflect his care, nor does it reflect the original purpose for us: to till and keep creation.
By taking care of the environment is a way to thank the creator for allowing us to live in such a beautiful place, because he created too many beautiful things, which we must care for and protect, so that the next generations can appreciate the wonders he created, maybe they are your children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, siblings or acquaintances.
