Lourdes Sotelo, pionera en el transporte juarense
Desde hace casi 35 años, la fundadora de Losmar S.A. de C.V. ha sido ejemplo para las mujeres que buscan abrirse camino dentro de ‘un mundo de hombres´
Pudiera parecer que haber nacido dentro de una familia dedicada al transporte facilitaría el proceso del éxito para Lourdes Sotelo, quien desde hace más de tres décadas ha enfrentado diversos retos, los cuales la han convertido en una líder visionaria en el gremio que por muchos años estuvo dirigido 100% por hombres.
Para este especial de mujeres dentro del transporte, Lulú –como la conocen sus allegados– recuerda haber iniciado como secretaria en la empresa que fundó su padre y consolido su hermano Manuel, Transportes Sotelo, ahí contestaba teléfonos y realizaba facturas, sin embargo, ella quería más.
Siguiendo los pasos de los hombres de la familia, decidió abrirse paso en el gremio, por lo que primero compró una camioneta, la cual asegura Dios puso en su vida y con la que logró su primer cliente, quien le daba muchos trabajos.
Con ese vehículo duró 5 años y tras progresar en el negocio, compró otras más, “siempre con el apoyo de mis hermanos yo fui creciendo poco a poco”, reconoce, pues dice que tanto ellos como su padre, la aconsejaban y ayudaban a administrar lo que se convertiría en su patrimonio.
“Ellos me ayudaban dándome trabajo, siempre fueron un apoyo muy grande para mí”, sobre todo Manuel, su hermano mayor.
Los retos en un mundo masculino
Luego de varios años y de trabajo constante, Lulú se convirtió en pionera del transporte para mujeres en Ciudad Juárez.
“Yo recuerdo ir a las juntas de las Asociación de Transportistas y ser la única mujer en las juntas. Eso ha sido mi mayor reto, ser como pionera como transportista mujer”, menciona.
Recuerda que, en aquel entonces, lo más difícil, era que los hombres no la tomaran en serio como jefa, “fue un reto muy grande ganarme a los choferes, que hicieran caso, que atendieran mis órdenes”, lo cual con el paso del tiempo ha cambiado, pues ahora presume, de que lo que ella dice se toma en cuenta.
Su evolución
Ahora, asegura que la necesidad ha abierto el camino a las mujeres en un sector que anteriormente era dominado por hombres, pues con creces han demostrado que son capaces de realizar cualquier trabajo.
“Dios nos da la capacidad de lidiar con toda clase de barreras que tenemos enfrente”, nos dice quien además es esposa de Ricardo Lozano, con quien lleva la empresa Losmar S.A. de C.V., pero sobre todo la familia, complementada por sus hijos Sergio, Casandra y Monserrat, y sus nietos Sofía, Luca, Gigi y Antonella.
Mensaje
Por todo lo anterior, Lulú manda un mensaje a las mujeres que están tratando de salir adelante, ese es: Crean en Dios antes que todo, después crean en ustedes mismas.
Agrega que, así como ella lo hizo, siempre hagan las cosas teniendo a la familia como su principal motor.
“Siempre puse a mi familia primero, jamás la tuve que abandonar por el trabajo, es algo que yo dije, ‘nunca voy a dejar a mis hijos por el trabajo’, entonces yo trabajaba siempre con ellos, nunca los abandoné, nunca antepuse a mi trabajo, entonces creo que es algo que me ha ayudado a salir adelante… Dios a premiado a mi vida”.
Agrega, “yo tengo totalmente mi fe puesta en Dios, yo creo que esta compañía, esto que tengo a lo largo de casi 35 años no hubiera sido posible si no me hubiera agarrado de la mano de Dios… es él quien siempre me ha acompañado”.

It might seem that being born into a family dedicated to transportation would make the process of success easier for Lourdes Sotelo, who for more than three decades has faced various challenges, which have made her a visionary leader in the industry that for many years was 100% run by men.
For this special on women in transportation, Lulú –as her friends know her– remembers having started as a secretary in the company founded by her father and consolidated by her brother Manuel, Transportes Sotelo, where she answered phones and made invoices, however, she wanted more.
Following in the footsteps of the men in her family, she decided to make her way in the trade, so she first bought a truck, which she says God put in her life and with which she got her first client, who gave her many jobs.
She lasted 5 years with that vehicle and after progressing in the business, she bought more, “always with the support of my brothers I grew little by little,” she admits, because she says that both they and her father advised her and helped her manage what would become her estate.
“They helped me by giving me work, they were always a great support for me,” especially Manuel, her older brother.
Challenges in a male world
After several years and constant work, Lulú became a pioneer in women’s transportation in Ciudad Juárez.
“I remember going to the meetings of the Transport Association and being the only woman in the meetings. That has been my biggest challenge, being a pioneer as a female transporter,” she says.
She remembers that, back then, the hardest thing was that men didn’t take her seriously as a boss, “it was a big challenge to win over the drivers, to get them to pay attention, to follow my orders,” which has changed over time, because now she boasts that what she says is taken into account.
Her evolution
Now, she says that necessity has paved the way for women in a sector that was previously dominated by men, as they have more than proven that they are capable of doing any job.
“God gives us the ability to deal with all kinds of barriers that we have in front of us,” says the woman who is also the wife of Ricardo Lozano, with whom she runs the company Losmar S.A. de C.V., but above all the family, complemented by her children Sergio, Casandra and Monserrat, and her grandchildren Sofia, Luca, Gigi and Antonella.
Message
For all the above, Lulú sends a message to women who are trying to get ahead, that is: Believe in God before everything, then believe in yourselves.
She adds that, just as she did, they should always do things with the family as their main driving force.
“I always put my family first, I never had to leave them for work, it’s something I said, ‘I will never leave my children for work’, so I always worked with them, I never abandoned them, I never put them before my work, so I think it’s something that has helped me get ahead… God has rewarded my life.”
She adds, “I have total faith in God, I believe that this company, what I have had for almost 35 years would not have been possible if I had not taken God’s hand… it is he who has always been with me.”

A las mujeres jóvenes que consideran una carrera en la industria del transporte, Alexia les ofrece un consejo claro: “Aunque esté difícil y todos les digan que no pueden, demuéstrense a sí mismas que pueden con eso y con mucho más”. Su mensaje es un llamado a la perseverancia y a la autoconfianza, resaltando que, con esfuerzo y determinación, es posible alcanzar grandes logros en cualquier campo.
Para Alexia, ser una mujer visionaria significa liderar con integridad y ser un ejemplo para los demás, demostrando día a día que, a pesar de las dificultades, es posible ser una fuente de inspiración y cambio. Con 250 personas bajo su responsabilidad, Alexia es una joven profesional que no sólo busca aportar a la industria del transporte, sino también marcar una diferencia significativa.
Ella comenta para Visionarias que, es una mujer de fe, lo cual también le ha ayudado a salir adelante, “en los momentos en los que puedo sentirme un poco perdida o con mucho estrés trato siempre de recordar que Dios nos pone pruebas difíciles, pero siempre está ahí para acompañarnos”, nos comparte.

Alexia began her career in the maintenance department of the family business, climbing the ranks until taking on operations management two years ago. She highlights the need for empathy and understanding, especially in dealing with operators, qualities that she considers fundamental and that, according to her, are essential to humanize work in this sector.

To young women considering a career in the transportation industry, Alexia offers clear advice: “Even if it’s difficult and everyone tells you that you can’t do it, prove to yourself that you can do it and much more.” Her message is a call for perseverance and self-confidence, highlighting that with effort and determination, it is possible to achieve great things in any field.
For Alexia, being a visionary woman means leading with integrity and being an example for others, demonstrating every day that, despite the difficulties, it is possible to be a source of inspiration and change. With 250 people under her responsibility, Alexia is a young professional who not only seeks to contribute to the transport industry, but also to make a significant difference.
She tells Visionarias that she is a woman of faith, which has also helped her to move forward, “in the moments when I may feel a little lost or very stressed, I always try to remember that God gives us difficult tests, but He is always there to accompany us,” she shares with us.

Ella logra equilibrar todos sus roles para sumar fuerzas en beneficio de su equipo de trabajo
Carmen Sotelo, es gerente de Recursos Humanos y Cumplimiento Legal de la empresa transportista Servicio Internacional de Enlace Terrestre (Siete), una compañía con más de 31 años de experiencia.
Además, es una mujer visionaria con tres carreras: Comercio Exterior, Psicología y Contaduría. Hermana mayor de dos hombres, con quienes se crío, esposa y madre de tres hijos varones, por lo que, no le es complicado trabajar con hombres.
A la par
Carmen considera que a lo largo de su carrera no ha tenido competencia con el hombre, pues en el área donde empezó a desempeñarse dentro del mundo transportista fue en aduanas. Para ella trabajar con varones, no es un reto, ya que ha aprendido a lidiar con ellos, habla su lenguaje y sabe cómo sacar provecho de sus habilidades y capacidades.
“El hombre es líder por naturaleza, entonces para mí no ha sido nada difícil, me gusta desarrollarlos, ponerles retos, porque yo sé cómo ellos trabajan, sé que les gustan los retos, la competencia entre ellos, sé que son líderes de hogar, ellos necesitan ganar más porque son proveedores de sus esposas e hijos, entonces eso a mí como jefa de ellos me ayuda porque les puedo poner retos y otras metas, y ellos las alcanzan”, mencionó la líder empresarial.
Nos platica que su inspiración para entrar al sector transportista fue su esposo, pues cuando se conocieron él ya se desempeñaba dentro del sector y aunque ella tenía una noción del trabajo, al ver en él su dedicación y valentía, la inspiró a entrar y seguir una carrera en esta área.
La profesionista señaló que, le gusta aprender cosas nuevas y cuando su marido la invitó a participar en su empresa, fue todo un reto para ella. “Ha sido difícil, pero como me gusta mucho aprender, entonces ha sido al mismo tiempo interesante y muy placentero, porque a pesar de que ha sido difícil, al estar aprendiendo cosas nuevas de áreas que no conozco, me ha hecho motivarme, se me ha hecho divertido y grato el camino”, dijo Sotelo.
En evolución
En cuanto a la evolución del sector transportista, antes las autoridades no exigían tantos requisitos. Actualmente, el equipo K9 es uno de esos requisitos, pues se trabaja en evitar el tráfico de estupefacientes, por lo que, los transportistas debieron adaptarse y convertirse en expertos en ese aspecto.
Carmen recuerda que cada vez han ido asumiendo más responsabilidades, como el manifiesto internacional de carga, un documento de control aduanero al que el transportista debe dar seguimiento. También les solicitan carta porte y otros requerimientos, por lo que se han tenido que adaptar a todos los cambios.
Sotelo indicó que, el reconocimiento de cada uno como persona, así como respetar las diferencias y temperamentos, le ha permitido tener un ambiente inclusivo y empático en la empresa.
Ella junto al resto de su equipo tratan de comer juntos cada viernes e incluir a los departamentos que conforman la compañía, lo cual aprovechan para platicar y convivir, además de que les ayuda a trabajar y ser unidos.
Refirió que, cuando surge un problema, se toma el tiempo de hablar con cada uno de sus colaboradores sin tomar partido, pues dice, “ella es objetiva y se pone del lado de la razón”.
Además, les brinda capacitaciones de su puesto y de los demás, para que todos sean conscientes de las labores que debe hacer cada uno.
Equilibrar todas las facetas
Relató que, a veces se tenía que levantar desde las 5:00 de la mañana, para hacer el lonche de los niños, preparar la comida, las tareas, alistar uniformes desde la noche y, además, tener el tiempo suficiente para lograr todo lo que se proponía.
Señaló que, la clave de todo era planear y hacer una lista de pendientes, a los que ponía fecha y hora, según la prioridad y urgencia. Cabe destacar que, a pesar de todos sus roles, hace un espacio en su apretada agenda para orar y trabajar en su ministerio de matrimonios, el cual está enfocado en apoyar y orientar a otras parejas para que resuelvan sus conflictos.
Su fe en Dios
Considera que, su fe en Dios la ha fortalecido, ya que si no lo hubiera conocido no hubiera llegado a donde está, e incluso cuando ve a una persona que tiene problemas, si se lo permite, ora por ella.
Su ministerio lleva por nombre “Siete”, igual que su compañía, pues fue en la misma empresa donde comenzaron con seminarios de matrimonios con 15 parejas y una duración de siete semanas.
Indicó que ante la gran necesidad de orientación que había en la comunidad, el ministerio fue creciendo exponencialmente, sin embargo, tras la pandemia por Covid-19, tuvieron que hacer una pausa, y actualmente, están por retomar sus actividades en el mes de diciembre.
Una mujer visionaria
Para Carmen Sotelo ser visionaria, la ha llevado a abrirse nuevas puertas, que le han permitido desarrollarse en varias carreras, lo que considera es importante para cualquier mujer.
“Pienso que todas debemos tener una visión corta, una mediana y una a largo plazo, porque para mí ha sido importantísimo siempre tener una visión hacia dónde voy, y a veces si he tenido que regresarme a hacer el plan”, señaló.
El tener una visión de que la mujer puede lograr muchas cosas, a pesar de todos los obstáculos que nos pone la sociedad, y que, si puede lograr lo que se proponga, a través de ser una mujer visionaria.

Carmen Sotelo is the Human Resources and Legal Compliance Manager of the transportation company Servicio Internacional de Enlace Terrestre (Siete), a company with more than 31 years of experience.
She is also a visionary woman with three careers: Foreign Trade, Psychology and Accounting. She is the eldest sister of two men, with whom she grew up, and a wife and mother of three sons, which makes it easy for her to work with men.

Carmen believes that throughout her career she has not had competition with men, since the area where she began to work within the transport world was in customs. For her, working with men is not a challenge, since she has learned to deal with them, speaks their language and knows how to take advantage of their skills and abilities.
“Men are leaders by nature, so it hasn’t been difficult for me. I like to develop them, to challenge them, because I know how they work, I know that they like challenges, competition among themselves, I know that they are leaders of their homes, they need to earn more because they are providers for their wives and children, so that helps me as their boss because I can set them challenges and other goals, and they achieve them,” said the business leader.
She tells us that her inspiration to enter the transport sector was her husband, because when they met, he was already working in the sector and although she had an idea of the work, seeing his dedication and courage inspired her to enter and pursue a career in this area.
The professional said that she likes to learn new things and when her husband invited her to participate in his company, it was quite a challenge for her. “It has been difficult, but since I really like to learn, it has been interesting and very pleasant at the same time, because even though it has been difficult, learning new things from areas that I don’t know has motivated me, and the journey has been fun and enjoyable,” said Sotelo.
In evolution
Regarding the evolution of the transport sector, the authorities did not demand so many requirements before. Currently, the K9 team is one of those requirements, since work is being done to prevent drug trafficking, so transporters had to adapt and become experts in that aspect.
Carmen recalls that they have been taking on more and more responsibilities, such as the international cargo manifest, a customs control document that the carrier must follow up on. They are also asked for a bill of lading and other requirements, so they have had to adapt to all the changes.
Sotelo indicated that the recognition of each person, as well as respecting differences and temperaments, has allowed her to have an inclusive and empathetic environment in the company.
She and the rest of her team try to eat together every Friday and include the departments that make up the company, which they take advantage of to talk and socialize, in addition to helping them work and be united.
She said that when a problem arises, she takes the time to talk to each of her collaborators without taking sides, because she says, “she is objective and takes the side of reason.”
In addition, they provide training for their position and for others, so that everyone is aware of the tasks that each one must do.
Balancing all facets
She said that sometimes she had to get up at 5:00 in the morning to make the children’s lunch, prepare food, do housework, get uniforms ready at night and, in addition, have enough time to achieve everything she set out to do.
She pointed out that the key to everything was planning and making a to-do list, which she set a date and time for, depending on priority and urgency. It is worth noting that, despite all her roles, she makes time in her busy schedule to pray and work on her marriage ministry, which is focused on supporting and guiding other couples to resolve their conflicts.
Her faith in God
She believes that her faith in God has strengthened her, since if she had not known him, she would not have gotten to where she is, and even when she sees a person who has problems, if they allow it, she prays for them.
Their ministry is called “Seven,” just like their company, since it was in the same company where they began with marriage seminars with 15 couples and a duration of seven weeks.
They indicated that given the great need for guidance in the community, the ministry was growing exponentially, however, after the Covid-19 pandemic, they had to take a break, and currently, they are about to resume their activities in the month of December.
A visionary woman
For Carmen Sotelo, being a visionary has led her to open new doors, which have allowed her to develop in various careers, which she considers important for any woman.
“I think that we all need to have a short-term, a medium-term and a long-term vision, because for me it has always been very important to have a vision of where I am going, and sometimes I have had to go back and make the plan,” she said.
Having a vision that women can achieve many things, despite all the obstacles that society puts in our way, and that, if they can achieve what they set out to do, by being a visionary woman.

Celina Zúñiga Gómez, una mujer de determinación, ha dejado una huella en la industria del transporte. Con una licenciatura en Comercio Exterior y Aduanas, ha demostrado que las mujeres pueden destacar en sectores tradicionalmente dominados por hombres.
De la maquila a la logística
Su trayectoria comenzó en el sector maquilador, donde desarrolló Plat4m, una plataforma innovadora para agilizar los trámites aduaneros. Ante los constantes cambios en la legislación, Celina se convirtió en una experta en digitalización y automatización de procesos, lo que le permitió, junto con su equipo de desarrolladores tecnológicos, crear soluciones eficientes para las empresas.
Sin embargo, su visión no se detuvo ahí. El éxito de su plataforma tecnológica hizo que los líderes de la industria del transporte voltearan sus ojos a ella y su equipo, y la invitaran a crear un acuerdo comercial con ellos.
Celina se adentró entonces en un nuevo desafío: desarrollar una plataforma que permitiera a las empresas cumplir con los nuevos requisitos regulatorios. Con su conocimiento en comercio exterior y su pasión por encontrar soluciones, logró crear una herramienta indispensable para los transportistas.
Rompiendo barreras en un mundo de hombres
Uno de los mayores obstáculos que ha enfrentado Celina ha sido la comunicación con los transportistas. Al provenir de mundos profesionales distintos, ambos sectores utilizaban un lenguaje y una terminología muy diferentes. Sin embargo, gracias a su perseverancia y capacidad de adaptación, Celina ha logrado construir puentes entre ambos mundos.
“Lo más difícil es poder lograr una buena comunicación y enseñar las regulaciones, el marco jurídico en el lenguaje del transporte”, afirma Celina.
A pesar de los desafíos, Celina ha demostrado que las mujeres pueden alcanzar puestos directivos en la industria del transporte. Su apoyo como asesora en la Cámara Nacional del Autotransporte de Carga (Canacar) ha sido fundamental para visibilizar el papel de las mujeres en este sector y abrir puertas para las futuras generaciones, por lo que, también agradece a Dios, pues sabe que es él quien la lleva de la mano.
“En mi carrera profesional he caminado por muchos obstáculos y de la mano de Dios pude convertirlos en experiencias y muchos éxitos; sé sin dudar que él me lleva”, asegura.
Celina Zúñiga nos comparte que “en este mundo tan complicado me pongo en sus manos (Dios) y le doy gracias por tantas bendiciones”, las cuales incluyen a su hijo, a quien educa para que sea un ser humano que valore y respete lo que la vida le da.
“Mi madre me inculcó que la vida somos seres de luz, si caminamos de la mano de Dios”, agrega.
Un mensaje de esperanza para las mujeres
Celina invita a las mujeres a prepararse y a creer en sí mismas. “El reto está muy fuerte para poder llegar, tienes que llegar con el conocimiento, sin decir mentiras sobre tramitología. Capacítense”, aconseja.
Su mensaje es claro: las mujeres tienen la capacidad de destacar en cualquier campo, siempre y cuando estén dispuestas a trabajar duro y a superar los obstáculos.

One of the biggest obstacles Celina has faced has been communicating with transporters. Coming from different professional worlds, both sectors used very different language and terminology. However, thanks to her perseverance and ability to adapt, Celina has managed to build bridges between both worlds.
“The most difficult thing is to be able to achieve good communication and teach the regulations, the legal framework in the language of transport,” says Celina.
Despite the challenges, Celina has shown that women can reach management positions in the transport industry. Her support as an advisor at the National Chamber of Cargo Transport (CANACAR) has been fundamental in making the role of women in this sector visible and opening doors for future generations, for which she also thanks God, because she knows that he is the one who leads her by the hand.
“In my professional career I have walked through many obstacles and with the help of God I was able to turn them into experiences and many successes; I know without a doubt that he leads me,” she says.
Celina Zúñiga shares with us that “in this complicated world I put myself in his hands (God) and I thank him for so many blessings,” which include her son, whom she educates to be a human being who values and respects what life gives him.
“My mother taught me that life is a being of light, if we walk hand in hand with God,” she adds.

Celina invites women to prepare themselves and believe in themselves. “The challenge is very tough to get there, you have to get there with knowledge, without telling lies about paperwork. Get trained,” she advises.
