Dios nos encarga estar al pendiente de su creación, para que el mundo pueda cumplir con los propósitos que él le dio
¿Alguna vez has ido a acampar?
Si lo has hecho y eres una persona responsable, sabes que debes de cuidar el lugar donde acampas, así como hacer uso adecuado de los recursos disponibles y dejar limpio el espacio cuando te vayas.
Todo esto lo haces a pesar de saber que tu estancia ahí es temporal, que ese no es tu hogar permanente, e incluso pensando en los que llegarán después de ti. Pues algo similar es lo que tenemos que hacer por el planeta en que vivimos.
Nuestra meta al cuidar del medio ambiente no es hacer al planeta eterno, porque Dios no lo diseño así, la Biblia nos dice que él hará cielos y una tierra nueva (2 Pedro 3:7-13), pero sí somos responsables de ser buenos administradores de los recursos terrenales mientras estemos aquí.
La primera tarea que Dios dio al hombre fue trabajar y cuidar la tierra que acababa de crear (Genesis 2:15), Dios nos ha encargado cuidar de su creación, nos dio todo lo que hay en ella para utilizarlo de una forma que sustente, proteja y mejore nuestro mundo, de manera que la creación pueda cumplir los propósitos que él le dio, por lo tanto, debemos administrar los recursos naturales no sólo para nuestro propio beneficio sino para la gloria de él.
Una mala administración
La mala administración de los recursos nos lleva a la carencia y a la destrucción. Dios mismo instruyó al pueblo de Israel que debía dejar descansar la tierra entre cultivos y no sobreexplotarla (Éxodo 23:10-11; Levítico 25:1-7).
Ciertamente la industrialización a la que hemos llegado en tiempos modernos hace más difícil mantener un planeta limpio y en un mundo caído irremediablemente existirá el sufrimiento, caos, imperfección, desechos y basura; pero ¿Cómo hemos de comprender una eternidad sin dolor, sin sufrimiento y sin pecado, si no lo hemos conocido y experimentado?
En medio de este panorama, como creyentes debemos mantener una perspectiva de esperanza en un futuro nuevo; de otra manera, no hay motivo para seguir en esta tierra, ni para traer nuevos seres a ella.

Mientras ese futuro llega, nuestra labor es llevar el mensaje de esperanza a los demás, al mismo tiempo que cuidamos todo lo que Dios nos ha dado. Seamos consumidores responsables, busquemos maneras de reciclar, reutilizar y reducir nuestros desechos, de reforestar las áreas en las que vivimos, cualquier acción que esté a tu alcance es valiosa, porque cuidar el medio ambiente es darle gloria a Dios y servir a los demás.
Caring for the environment does matter
God charges us to be mindful of his creation so that the world can fulfill the purposes he gave him
Have you ever gone camping?
If you have and you are a responsible person, you know that you must take care of the place where you camp, make proper use of the available resources and leave the space clean when you leave.
You do all this even though you know that your stay there is temporary, that it is not your permanent home, and even thinking about those who will come after you. Well, something similar is what we have to do for the planet we live on.
Our goal in caring for the environment is not to make the planet eternal because God did not design it that way; the Bible tells us that he will make a new heaven and new earth (2 Peter 3:7-13), but we are responsible for being good stewards of the earth’s resources while we are here.
The first task God gave man was to work and take care of the earth he had just created (Genesis 2:15); God has charged us to take care of his creation; he gave us everything in it to use in a way that sustains, protects and improves our world, so that creation can fulfill the purposes he gave it; therefore, we must manage the natural resources not only for our benefit but for the glory of him.
Poor stewardship
Mismanagement of resources leads to lack and destruction. God himself instructed the people of Israel to let the land rest between crops and not overexploit it (Exodus 23:10-11; Leviticus 25:1-7).
Indeed, the industrialization we have reached in modern times makes it more challenging to maintain a clean planet, and in a fallen world, there will inevitably be suffering, chaos, imperfection, waste and garbage; but how are we to understand an eternity without pain, suffering and sin, if we have not known and experienced it?
Amid this panorama, as believers, we must maintain a perspective of hope in a new future; otherwise, there is no reason to continue on this earth or bring new beings to it.
Important
While that future arrives, our job is to carry the message of hope to others while taking care of all that God has given us. Let us be responsible consumers, look for ways to recycle, reuse and reduce our waste, and reforest the areas where we live. Any action that is within your reach is valuable because taking care of the environment is to give glory to God and serve others.
