Cómo equilibrar el PH

Publicado

How to balance the PH

To maintain a good state of health in our body, it is necessary to regulate its alkalinity or pH.

Most of us have a more acidic pH than we should, because it not only influences for what we eat and the amount of natural water we drink, but stress excess, lack of exercise and poor quality of sleep.

As for food, it is essential that we reduce the intake of sugars contained in canned foods, sausages and pastries. We must also take care of the quality of the proteins we consume.

I will show you some recommended foods that are more alkaline and ideal for your daily consumption and that should be a priority over acidic foods.

• Fruits such as pear, apple, melon, watermelon, and all non-citrus fruits.

• Fish predominating as protein. You can eat it up to three times a week.

• All vegetables such as romaine lettuce, chard, kale, spinach, green pepper, celery, chayote, carrot, and beets. Preferably they should be eaten raw, especially carrots and beets, since cooked increase three times their sugar.

Here is a juice therapy recipe to alkalize the body. It should be taken between breakfast and lunch. Ingredients:

• 2 celery sticks

• 4 romaine lettuce leaves

• 1 spinach cup

• ½ seedless cucumber

• ½ slice of pineapple

Instructions: Blend everything with half water glass and drink immediately.

Tip: You can exchange the fruit with green apple, blueberries, strawberries, or another one of your choice, but never combine two fruits if what you want to alkalinize.

It’s also ideal to drink ¼ teaspoon of baking soda in half glass of warm water the first 15 minutes after getting up, or you can try a cup of unsweetened chamomile.

Healthy Food

Your allies to prevent diabetes

Diabetes is a chronic disease that affects the way the body processes sugar. When you have diabetes, your body does not produce or use insulin properly, which causes too much glucose to accumulate in the blood.

To prevent this disease, we can consume some foods, among them…

• Whole grains, which are fiber-rich and help control blood sugar levels. Some examples are brown rice, oatmeal, quinoa, and whole wheat bread.

• Fruits and vegetables are good vitamins, minerals, and fiber sources. Those especially beneficial for people with diabetes are apples, oranges, berries, broccoli, and spinach.

• Legumes are a source of proteins, fiber, and minerals; for example, we have lentils, black beans, and chickpeas.

• Oily fish, rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, can help reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes; these can be salmon, tuna, and sardines.

• Nuts and seeds are a source of protein, fiber, and healthy fats source. In addition to nuts, examples include almonds, chia seeds, and flax seeds.

In summary, eating a healthy diet – rich in the foods mentioned above – can help you prevent type 2 diabetes, although it also helps to maintain a healthy weight and exercise regularly.

Exercise saves lives

• Studies: Certified in IFTA (Interactive Fitness Trainers of America)
• Marital status: Single, no children

Exercise saves lives and will give you a life quality you will not get any other way. It’s never too late, and you don’t have to start with something difficult; Something as basic as going for a walk can be done very well and anywhere.

Exercise is for everyone; many studies have proven that most diseases are due to lack of muscle mass, including diabetes, high or low blood pressure, obesity, Alzheimer’s, dementia, and others that can be prevented if the person exercises daily and accumulates muscle mass.

Visionaries (V) What are your specialties or areas of focus in training?

Marisol Tavison (MT): My specialty and focus are on losing weight, gaining muscle mass, and sculpting bodies. I have clients who aspire to be bodybuilders, and that is a service I also offer.

V. How did you get started in the world of personal training?

MT. Since I was little, I have been into sports: basketball, volleyball, softball, track and field.

Then, I got involved in pageantry and catwalks, including Nuestra Belleza El Paso, where I won “Best Bikini Body” and was in the Top 10 out of 50 girls. That same year, I did my first bodybuilding competition, which I loved and where I found my passion for the gym.

V. Why did you choose to be a personal trainer?

MT. My study and learning of the importance of nutrition and exercise motivates me to educate others.

As I learn and grow in this sport, I see more the importance of living a healthy and active life – which everyone needs to have – and it all comes with education, which is my personal goal.

I want to change lives and my mindset from bad to good habits.

V. What are the objectives that can be achieved with your training?

MT. It all depends on the person’s personal goal, but the most common is accumulating muscle mass, which, in the end, is the healthiest thing for everyone, regardless of age or sex. There is no good or lousy goal; at the end of the day, most people want to feel healthy.

Every goal is achievable if the person is willing to work hard to achieve their goals.

V. How do you address people’s motivation and keep them committed to their goals?

MT. From the beginning of the program, I ask them what their goals and objectives are on difficult days (because there will be some). I always remind them why they are doing what they started, whether it is their children or family. I let them know that they are not alone and always have my support in and outside the gym; my phone is always on when they need something, at any time and day. This process is a team one.

V. What advice do you give people to maintain a healthy lifestyle outside the gym?

MT. My best advice is not to try to change everything from one day to the next; that is where the problem is; they change everything and restrict too much too soon, which is why most people return to bad habits. Everything is step by step and little by little so that it is easy for them to achieve those goals. Instead of thinking about eliminating, think about implementing. Implement walking more, drinking more water, eating more vegetables and fruits, etc.

World Cancer Day

Every diagnosis is different, so the treatment and prognosis are other too.

By: Dr. Bosco Martin McNally Guillén

Each one of our cells maintains a balance in our body. These cells are programmed to perform their function, and when they die, they give rise to another daughter cell; however, when a cell suffers damage to its DNA (genetic mutation), it can lose this harmony, refusing to die, multiplying in an uncontrolled manner and invading different parts of the body, this is what we know as cancer.

Several factors can cause genetic mutations, including smoking, radiation, viruses, cancer-causing chemicals (carcinogens), obesity, hormones, chronic inflammation, and lack of exercise.

In 2021, 1,122,249 deaths were registered in the country, of which 8% (90,123) were due to malignant tumors. The rate of deaths due to malignant tumors increased from 6.09 deaths per 10 thousand people in 2010 to 7.06 in 2021.  In 2021, Mexico City, Colima, Veracruz, Sonora, Chihuahua, and Morelos were the entities with the highest death rate from malignant tumors in the country.

The most common cancers (in descending order according to the estimated number of new cases in 2020) are breast cancer, lung and bronchus cancer, prostate cancer, colon and rectum cancer, melanoma (a skin cancer), bladder cancer, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, kidney and renal pelvis cancer, endometrial cancer, leukemia, pancreatic cancer, thyroid cancer, and liver cancer.

What do you do if you have a diagnosis?

The first recommendation is to go to a medical specialist; if you have a diagnosis of cancer known as solid tumors such as breast cancer, colon, stomach, pancreas, liver, or testicular, you should visit an oncologist.

If you have a diagnosis of hematological cancer, such as leukemia, multiple myeloma, Hodgkin’s lymphoma, or non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, you should visit a hematologist.

Each cancer is different, so the treatment and prognosis are also other.

Recommendations:

* Maintain an active lifestyle. Multiple studies have shown us the benefit of exercise in cancer prevention. Still, there is also evidence that it benefits the patient who already has the diagnosis, increasing the chances of responding adequately to treatment and decreasing the side effects of chemotherapy.

* Maintain a balanced diet. Obesity and diabetes are risk factors for almost any known cancer, so it is advisable to maintain an adequate diet.

* Sleep at least 8 hours; sleep has been shown to increase the activity of our immune system, mainly cells known as natural killers primarily responsible for fighting cancer.

* Caution with alternative medicine: there are many remedies on the market promising almost magical solutions, and the truth is that most of them lack scientific evidence. Those include some “Natural Remedies” that we do not know what side effects they may have on the body and, at the same time, what interactions they may have with chemotherapy; always consult your doctor.

* Stop smoking and discontinue the intake of other drugs.
