Colegio Cristóbal Colón
Fundado por la maestra Guadalupe García, en este lugar se cumple el sueño de educar a generaciones completas
Hace 50 años, el 3 de septiembre de 1973, la maestra Guadalupe García Ávila y su hija Hilda Josefina Zamarripa García, fundaron el Colegio Cristóbal Colón, el cual inició clases con sólo dos grupos de alumnos.
Ahora la profesora García con 84 años de edad, continúa trabajando a favor del colegio, y fue ella quien recordó que hace 52 años en una conversación con su padre Don Ángel García Olivas, le preguntó sobre la idea de ser maestra, respondiéndole que ya no podía hacerlo, pero él insistió “si tú tienes una meta, tienes que cumplirla”.
A los 16 años Guadalupe estudiaba en la escuela Simón Bolívar número 28, que en ese tiempo era la única normal de la ciudad, misma a la que tuvo que abandonar, por lo que quedó inconcluso ese sueño, sin embargo, su padre insistió; entonces buscó al profesor Alfredo Nava Sagún, quien la asesoró para conformar la escuela, y aunque comenzó con muy pocos niños, él la motivó para no dejarlo.
En la actualidad, el colegio Cristóbal Colón tiene nueve grados, en preescolar, primaria y secundaria.
Ser incluyente
La maestra Lupita señaló que las colegiaturas siempre han sido económicas, pues la misión del colegio es ser incluyente y dar espacio a niños de diversos niveles económicos, ya que su objetivo es formar a la infancia, basándose en una educación con valores. Destacó que incluso su madre le ayudó a diseñar los uniformes de los menores, buscando que la tela fuera resistente y accesible para todos.
Actualmente, la hija de la maestra García, Aida Guadalupe Zamarripa García es la directora del Colegio, ella recuerda con cariño que, desde los 8 años de edad, acompañaba a su madre ayudándole en sus labores escolares que destacaban por su compromiso y dedicación.
Aida mencionó que han visto como familias han sido transformadas de la mano del Señor, además de tener la dicha de ver a sus egresados convertirse en excelentes profesionistas, y ahora sus hijos también estudian ahí, e incluso sus nietos.
Un segundo hogar para los niños
La maestra Aida describió al colegio Cristóbal Colón, como “el segundo hogar de nuestros alumnos, aquí los niños se sienten protegidos”, también reciben a estudiantes con necesidades especiales, donde los apoyan y cuidan que se desarrollen en un ambiente sano, sobre todo en donde puedan descubrir todo su potencial.Tanto la maestra Lupita como la maestra Aída, reconocen que la docencia es una profesión de grandes retos y aún mayores satisfacciones, que a lo largo de 50 años Jehová Dios ha sostenido este lugar, las ha guiado y bendecido, con excelentes compañeros de trabajo y hermosas familias.
50 years of educating the children of Juarense

Founded by teacher Guadalupe García, this place fulfills the dream of educating entire generations.
Fifty years ago, on September 3, 1973, teacher Guadalupe García Ávila and her daughter Hilda Josefina Zamarripa García founded the Cristobal Colón School, which began classes with only two groups of students.
Now 84 years old, Professor Garcia continues to work on behalf of the school. She recalled that 52 years ago, in a conversation with her father, Don Angel Garcia Olivas, she asked him about the idea of being a teacher, replying that she could no longer do it. Still, he insisted, “If you have a goal, you have to achieve it.”
At 16, Guadalupe was studying at Simón Bolívar School number 28, the only regular school in the city, but she had to drop out, so her dream remained unfulfilled. However, her father insisted; then she looked for Professor Alfredo Nava Sagún, who advised her to form the school. And although she started with very few children, he motivated her not to give it up.
Today, the Cristobal Colon School has nine preschool, elementary, and high school grades.
Being inclusive
Teacher Lupita pointed out that tuition has always been economical since the school’s mission is to be inclusive and provide space for children of different economic levels, as its objective is to educate children based on education with values. She pointed out that her mother even helped her design the children’s uniforms, ensuring that the fabric was resistant and accessible to all.
Teacher García’s daughter, Aida Guadalupe Zamarripa García, is the school’s director. She fondly remembers that, since she was eight years old, she accompanied her mother, helping her with her school work, which stood out for her commitment and dedication.
Aida mentioned that they have seen how families have been transformed by the hand of the Lord, besides having the joy of seeing their graduates become excellent professionals, their children study there, and even their grandchildren.
A second home for the children
Teacher Aida described Cristobal Colon School as “the second home of our students; here the children feel protected.” they also receive students with special needs, where they are supported and cared for so they can develop in a healthy environment, especially where they can discover their full potential. Both teacher Lupita and teacher Aida recognize that teaching is a profession of significant challenges and even greater satisfactions, that throughout 50 years, Jehovah God has sustained this place, has guided and blessed them with excellent co-workers and beautiful families.
